ROMA are close to signing Memphis Depay from Manchester United to act as competition for Mo Salah, according to reports.
Memphis Depay scores EPIC free kick to save Netherlands
Depay is tipped to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The Holland international has made just eight appearances under manager Jose Mourinho this season and has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
Depay, 22, is supposedly free to find a new club and Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claim Roma are close to agreeing a deal.
According to the report, Roma manager Luciano Spalletti wants to boost competition in his ranks and has identified Depay as a viable option.
Former Chelsea flop Salah, 24, has been ruled out of action until February with an ankle injury, meaning Spalletti wants a deal for Depay done quickly.

Depay last played for United in the 4-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord and is not expected to feature in tomorrow’s trip to Everton (4pm).
