Santos manager confirms interest in Manchester United player: Mourinho eyeing someone else
SANTOS have emerged as unlikely suitors of Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Bastian Schweinsteiger NOT READY asserts Mourinho
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has already told German Schweinsteiger to find a new club and has exiled him from the first team.
Schweinsteiger is currently training with the squad in order to improve his fitness levels, with the expectation that he will be offloaded in January.
United are already willing to take a hit on his £200,000-a-week wages just to get him off the squad list.
He is not wanted in Manchester
And Brazilian side Santos are now considering a deal with the Red Devils.
In an interview with UOL Esporte, Santos coach Dorival Junior outlined his plan for the club.
“I’ve tried to convince the board of Santos of my plan, which is that Santos need a player with worldwide recognition,” he said.
“We have sought names at European clubs who are suddenly not are being used and who could fit this profile.
“He (Schweinsteiger) fits this profile.

"A player with the pedigree of Schweinsteiger. He is not wanted in Manchester and suddenly a Brazilian club (like us) may be interested in an athlete with his profile who could move in the transfer market.”
Schweinsteiger, 32, has not played under new United manager Jose Mourinho, who signed midfielders Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer.
He has also had talks with Chicago Fire about moving to the MLS.
Express Sport understands Mourinho is also interested in landing Real Madrid star James Rodriguez at the end of the season, although they face competition from Chelsea to secure the Colombia international.
