Steve Bruce is yet to hire an assistant manager at Aston Villa
Villa manager Bruce, whose side travel to face Brighton tonight (7.45pm), is yet to fill his No 2 role since taking charge at Villa Park last month.
The Villains have lifted to 14th in the Championship table since Bruce's arrival but trail second-place Brighton by 13 points.
Former Brighton defender Adam Virgo told BBC Sussex: "It's disappointing with the timing of this.
"It could be personal which we don't know about."
