The 19-year-old, who is a product of Bayer Leverkusen's youth academy, claimed he became aware of interest from the Premier League giants in 2015.
"English clubs were interested after a national match in England in September 2015 with the German U-19's," he told Sport Bild.

And among these clubs were Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Henrichs has since come on leaps and bounds at Leverkusen and has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the German club this season, providing two assists.

His impressive displays have seen him nail down a regular starting spot at right-back for Roger Schmidt's side.
Henrichs also outlined that Barcelona made an enquiry for him after impressing at an Under-13 tournament in Holland.
"At a U-13 tournament in Holland, Barcelona was also there," he added.
"They have become penultimate, but we were quite good. Then there was a request from Barcelona."
Henrichs earned his first senior call-ups in an experimental Germany side to face San Marino and Italy during the international break this month.
Henrichs is contracted to Leverkusen until 2020.
