Keith Andrews crowns meteoric rise
KEITH Andrews admits he has to pinch himself when he looks back over the last few months.
Just last season, the 28-year-old was playing his football at League Two MK Dons having arrived there on a free transfer from Hull after struggling to make his name at Wolves.
But tonight, he will hope for a senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland against Poland having established himself as a genuine Barclays Premier League player with Blackburn.
Andrews caught the eye of Giovanni Trapattoni in the B squad’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last month and was immediately drafted into the senior party for the World Cup qualifier against Cyprus.

While he was not involved that night at Croke Park, he could well be from the bench tomorrow as the Italian considers his options, and that would confirm a meteoric rise for the Dubliner.
Andrews said: “I sit down after games and reflect on them and how well I have been doing and how quickly things have been moving, and you do have to put things into perspective.
“But at the same time, it can be taken away in a flash, so you have got to be grateful and I am going to enjoy every minute of it.”
