The diminutive Spaniard spent just three seasons at Liverpool but was remembered fondly by the Anfield faithful for his ability to score crucial goals.
Signed by Benitez in 2004, he went on to become an integral part of the Liverpool’s Champions League winning side that same year.
A wonder goal against Juventus in the quarter-finals was followed by the controversial ‘ghost goal’ against Chelsea in the semis before the Reds completed a memorable comeback against AC Milan in the final.

In a question and answer with the Champions League Twitter account Garcia was asked about his time at the club and admitted he wasn’t always employed in his favoured position.
“I was always fighting with Rafa Benitez about this! I loved to play as a 2nd striker but he'd mainly play me out on the wing,” said Garcia.

The 38-year-old played with the likes of Ronaldinho, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Patrick Kluivert during the 2003/04 season with Barcelona but Garcia admitted Steven Gerrard at Liverpool was the best he had played with in the Champions League.
"With... it has to be Gerrard, because as a player he had it all. He was a leader, scored goals, gave assists - everything!” Added Garcia.
