United are reportedly lining up a shock move for Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who recently signed a new five-year contract at the Foxes.
That is according to The Sun, who claim Jose Mourinho is prepared to spend around £30million to bring the England international back to Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old rose through the ranks at United before switching to the Foxes for just £1m back in 2012.
United defender Luke Shaw is willing to play through the pain against Leicester to keep his first-team place, reports The Sun.
The England left-back suffered a groin tear in the 3-1 defeat to Watford on Sunday and is unavailable for tonight's EFL third round trip to Northampton.
But the 21-year-old, who was singled out for criticism at Vicarage Road, is hopeful of being in contention for Saturday's early kick-off against Leicester.

“It’s been a week to forget for Jose Mourinho and all the talk seems to suggest a new playmaker in January is top of his priority list, with Real Madrid’s Isco fitting the bill perfectly,” said a BetStars spokesman.
“Manchester United have emerged as the 5/2 favourites to sign the 24-year-old who has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu, with his only start of the season coming in the UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla.”
