Jamie Carragher exposes Chelsea transfer policy: Antonio Conte didn't sign David Luiz
DAVID LUIZ will not be a first-choice centre-back at Chelsea this season, believes former England defender Jamie Carragher.
Luiz returned to Chelsea on deadline day in a £32million deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte had been seeking a new centre-back all summer and acted fast when Luiz became available.
If Antonio Conte had wanted David Luiz he would've got him much earlier
But Carragher, who watched Luiz’s performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last night, doesn’t think the Brazilian was Conte’s first choice.
"It will be (John) Terry and Gary Cahill - it's tried and trusted," Carragher said on Sky Sports.
"Chelsea are a type of club where the club actually sign players - the manager gets changed so often it's almost like a European model.
