United suffered a humiliating 2-1 loss at home to rivals Manchester City last weekend.
The result saw Pep Guardiola's side top the Premier League and Herrera has admitted the result has been "tough" for the players and fans to stomach.
However, the midfielder has promised to avenge the defeat in this evening's Europa League trip to Feyenoord (6pm).
"When you lose the derby, I cannot lie, it was a tough day," Herrera said.
