Transfer News: Arsenal fear Fonte will join Man Utd, Spurs signing close, £30m Chelsea bid
EXPRESS SPORT brings you the latest transfer news.
Jose Fonte - 5 things you need to know
Arsenal are set to end their interest in Southampton defender Jose Fonte as they're convinced the Portugal international is set to join Manchester United, according to the Evening Standard.
The Gunners are desperate to land a new centre-back before the summer window shuts following injuries to Gabriel and Per Mertesacker in pre-season.
The report claims United's move for Fonte is expected to go ahead before next Wednesday's deadline, leaving Arsenal to pursue Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi.
Tottenham are reportedly on the verge of signing Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez on loan.
That is according to Spanish daily AS, who claim the shot-stopper trained with his boyhood club for the last time yesterday and could secure his move to north London in the next few days.
Spurs are said to have agreed a £520,000 loan fee with Espanyol with an option to make it permanent for £6m next summer.

Chelsea fail in bid for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli
According to Sky Italia, Chelsea have had a £30million bid knocked back by AC Milan for young centre-half Alessio Romagnoli.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to recruit a new defender, with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly also said to be high up on his list.
However, Milan have made it clear to the Premier League club that they have no desire to sell the Italy Under-21 international this summer.
