Brothers keep Coppell in Hunt
Reading 3 Derby 0
Brothers-in-arms Noel and Stephen Hunt combined to devastating effect once again to keep Steve Coppell’s Reading snapping at the heels of the Championship leaders.
The Royals’ Irish duo, at the same club for the first time in their careers, have been in superb form with their telepathic-like understanding.
Before yesterday the Hunts had rattled the back of the net 13 times between them.
Now the family tally stands at an impressive 14 after Stephen’s pin-point corner set up Noel’s eighth.
And that first-half header, along with Kevin Doyle’s double after the break, was easily enough to secure third-place Reading’s second successive win.
They remain three points adrift of automatic promotion – a position Derby would dearly love to be in right now.
Despite suffering only their second defeat in 13 matches, Paul Jewell’s men are now languishing in mid-table – four points behind the top six.
