Surprise bid for Everton defender: Deal could depend on John Stones joining Man City
EVERTON are braced for a shock bid from Roma for defender Ramiro Funes Mori, according to reports.
Roma reportedly want to sign Everton's Ramiro Funes Mori
The Toffees are currently fighting to fend off interest from Manchester City in centre-back John Stones.
And they risk losing two defenders before the summer is out with reports in Italy claiming Mori is on Roma's shopping list.
According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are desperate to sign defenders this summer.
It is claimed Roma will propose a loan move for the Argentine with the option to buy him next summer.
Everton are under no pressure to sell and in fact are more likely to want to keep Mori if Stones completes his switch to City.
Manager Ronald Koeman has a £100million transfer kitty at his disposal and so there is no financial incentive for Everton to sell last summer's new arrival.
Never fall asleep at a cricket match or this might happen
Mori played 37 games for the Toffees last season, having joined from River Plate for just under £10m.
As for Stones, the England international is thought to be keen on joining manager Pep Guardiola at City but Everton are holding out for £50m.
