Chelsea are thought to be keen on Juventus defender Lichtsteiner, with incoming manager Antonio Conte having already coached the Switzerland international in Turin.
But Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb report City are now readying a rival bid.

Guardiola is reportedly considering selling Eliaquim Managala to make room for new arrivals in City's defence, with Everton's John Stones also a target after City missed out on Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte.
As for Chelsea, a move for Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas is supposedly on the cards, while Barcelona have Cesar Azpilicueta on their shortlist to replace the departing Alves.
