The former Juventus and Bilbao striker is said to be considering his options after scoring just seven goals last season.
And Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo claim he could join Aitor Karanka at the Riverside.

The club finished second in the Championship to secure promotion and will play in England's top flight next term for the first time since 2009.
The report claims Juventus may be interested in re-signing the striker, although again a bid is unlikely to match his release clause.
Llorente was given the chance to join the Chinese Super League, the report adds, but decided to reject the lucrative offer.
