Newcastle to make loss on January signing: Crystal Palace to trigger star's release clause
NEWCASTLE will make a £4million loss on January signing Andros Townsend if Crystal Palace complete their reported swoop for the star.
Crystal Palace reportedly want to sign Andros Townsend
Townsend, 24, only joined his new club five months ago but Newcastle already appear resigned to losing the England international.
Palace manager Alan Pardew is keen to bolster his team ahead of the new season and has earmarked Townsend as a viable attacking option.
That is according to the Sunday People, who claim the Eagles are ready to do business with Newcastle over a deal.
Townsend was selected for England's training squad ahead of Euro 2016 but missed manager Roy Hodgson's 23-man cut last week.
England head to France today to finalise their preparations for the tournament, which kicks off on Friday.

As for Newcastle, Benitez committed himself to the club by signing a three-year contract at St James' Park at the end of the season but could lose more star players over the coming weeks.
Everton and Southampton reportedly want to sign Georginio Wijnaldum, while Daryl Janmaat apparently wants a new club.
French duo Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux have already left the club.
