Newcastle eye Chelsea and Fulham forwards: Pair to cost over £25m
PATRICK BAMFORD and Ross McCormack are reportedly being targeted by Newcastle this summer.
Newcastle are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they aim to secure immediate promotion
Rafa Benitez wants firepower in attack to help assure the Magpies secure an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation this term.
The manager is set to be backed in the transfer window at Newcastle after Benitez signed a three-year deal to stay at St James' Park.
Having been convinced of the ambition on Tyneside, Benitez will lead their charge in the Championship, with Bamford and McCormack identified by the club as possible recruits.
The strikers each have solid records in the division, and according to The Chronicle, Newcastle are interested in both.
Newcastle have apparently been quoted £15m for the 29-year-old Scotland international, with the figure his release clause at Craven Cottage.
However, the Magpies are said to face competition for McCormack from Bamford's former side Palace and fellow relegated side Aston Villa.
The pair together would cost over £25m with Benitez ready to spend big in the summer, as it's claimed five or six new players could yet arrive at St James' Park.
