Kevin Kilbane urges Republic of Ireland ace to earn Tottenham transfer at Euro 2016
SHANE LONG was last night urged to grab Euro glory for the Republic of Ireland – and win himself a £20million move to Tottenham.
Shane Long has scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for the Republic of Ireland
Former Irish international turned TV pundit Kevin Kilbane believes the Southampton striker now has what it takes to fill Robbie Keane’s legendary boots and put on a show in France.
And watching Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, increasingly frustrated at failing to land No1 target Saido Berahino, could turn to Long to help out Harry Kane.
Long is likely to lead the Irish attack in France with Keane, 35, expected to start on the bench.
Kilbane said: “It’s up Shane to open his shoulders, puff his chest out...and be the next Robbie Keane.”
