The 34-year-old Swede is out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
United have been continually linked with the striker, with Jose Mourinho keen to snap him up on a free transfer.
However, speaking prior to Sweden’s Euro 2016 warm-up game against Slovenia last night, he admitted he wants to play for old club Malmo.
He said: “I love Malmö and I wish I could play today.
“I apologise for that, but I will, I will. Just wait for me."
Reports elsewhere suggest Tottenham have designs on Ibrahimovic and they are considering offering him a two-year deal.
Despite the widespread interest, the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, claims Ibrahimovic’s next club is still unknown.

He said: “We have not decided anything yet. I think it will be a surprise in the end. Everyone is harping on about only United, United, United.
"There are some clubs in England, a few clubs in Europe, clubs outside Europe, but everyone assumes that he must go to Manchester United, but it is not true.
“It’s not important to arrange something quickly, I care only about arranging something with quality."
