Man United ruin huge transfer: Louis van Gaal working on deal for Prem star before sack
LOUIS VAN GAAL would have tried to sign Christian Eriksen for Manchester United this summer had he not been sacked, according to reports.
Louis van Gaal was reportedly keen to sign Christian Eriksen
Van Gaal was officially axed by United on Monday night, ending his contract with the Old Trafford club one year early.
And the Dutchman admitted he was disappointed to be leaving before he had finished implementing his 'three-year plan'
"I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan," he said.
"I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success."
@mabbutt couple of months ago. CL big factor for Eriksen, wanted that confirmed. Don't know what the sticking point is atm

And it seems part of those plans could have been the acquisition of Tottenham star Eriksen.
PA journalist Tom Allnutt claims the Dutchman was keen to bring in the 24-year-old following a solid season at White Hart Lane.
"Interesting LVG snidbit. Told Christian Eriksen was very high on Van Gaal's wishlist if he had stayed at #mufc this summer," he tweeted.
Jose Mourinho is now tipped to take charge at Old Trafford and Express Sport understands he will be handed a £200million summer transfer kitty.
