Arsenal and Liverpool rocked after Man City agree £20m deal
MANCHESTER CITY have reportedly agreed a £20.1million deal for Ilkay Gundogan.
Ilkay Gundogan looks set to become Pep Guardiola's first signing as Man City boss
The Borussia Dortmund star’s future has been the subject of growing speculation after he refused to sign a new deal.
Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel had recently admitted he was hoping Gundogan would stay.
But according to the Daily Telegraph, a £20.1m deal has been struck after months of negotiations.
The fee could rise to £21.6m depending on Gundogan’s success at the Etihad.
It is thought the 25-year-old’s move to the Etihad should be a formality with personal terms left to be thrashed out.
Should he sign, it would be Pep Guardiola’s first acquisition as City boss.
Although Gundogan underwent surgery on his knee last week, City hope he will be back by late August.
Ilkay Gundogan Player Profile
The news will come as a significant body blow to Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsene Wenger is keen to plough money into rebuilding his midfield, with veterans Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini all leaving in the summer.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Gundogan, having managed him during his stint in charge of Dortmund.
