Wayne Rooney: I'll play anywhere for England
WAYNE ROONEY has admitted he doesn't have to play up front for England.
Rooney has told Hodgson he will play in any position required
Rooney was named in the 26-man England squad by manager Roy Hodgson yesterday alongside fellow strikers Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Marcus Rashford.
And with so many goal-scorers in form, the England captain has conceded he might have to play in midfield.
"As a player you are always adapting," Rooney told Sky Sports.
"I think you saw in World Cup 2006 with Owen Hargreaves, he was probably England's best player, purely for the fact he could play in different positions.
"To have players like that in your squad is really important.
"The good thing that Roy has now is that he can look at the opponents and pick a midfield which is best for beating the opponent.
"We haven't always had that."
