Manchester City rocked: Borussia Dortmund offer new deal to Pep Guardiola target
MANCHESTER CITY transfer target Ilkay Gundogan has been offered a new deal by Borussia Dortmund.
Germany international Ilkay Gundogan has been ruled out of Euro 2016 through injury
City have put their proposed £23million swoop for the German international midfielder on hold after he was sidelined for several months with a dislocated his knee cap suffered while playing basketball last week.
Incoming boss Pep Guardiola and City's sporting director Txiki Begiristain had already met Gundogan's agent - who is also his uncle - several weeks ago in Amsterdam to set up the move and were ready to trigger an escape clause in the players' contract.
Gundogan’s injury is the second major setback in his career. He was sidelined for 14 months after damaging his back in 2013.
Meanwhile, Pablo Zabaleta is wanted by two Serie A clubs. Juventus have joined Inter Milan, who are managed by former City boss Roberto Mancini, in the chase for the Argentina right back who is expected to be off-loaded this summer after eight years with the club.
