Manchester United close in on Sporting Lisbon's Joao Mario
Manchester United are closing in on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario, according to the Daily Star.
Louis van Gaal's side are reportedly willing to trigger the 23-year-old's £45million release clause and offer him a long-term deal worth around £140,000 a week.
The Red Devils are said to have turned their attention to Mario after losing out on Benfica's Renato Sanches, who yesterday agreed to join Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have emerged as favourites to sign Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic, who has impressed with nine goals and six assists for the Scottish champions.
That is according to the Sydney Morning Herald, who claim the Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Australia international all season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was reportedly was advised to sign Rogic by former scout Brian McDermott, who failed to sign him for Reading in 2013.

And finally, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen on a reunion with Juventus winger Kwadwo Asamoah.
The current Italy coach signed the Ghana international, who has struggled with injuries this season, during his time in charge at Juve in 2012.
And Blues owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly willing to spend up to £20million to bring the 27-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer.
