Revealed: The two Liverpool aces who could miss the start of next season
LIVERPOOL could be without two members of their squad for the beginning of next season.
Both Tiago Ilori and Joao Teixeira are hoping to make the Olympic squad this summer
The majority of the first-team group are currently away on international duty and Tiago Ilori and Joao Teixeira have been called up to the Portugal under-23s squad.
The two are hoping to be selected to represent their country at this summer's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Teams in the Olympic football competition are only allowed three players aged 23 or over in their squad but the Liverpool duo, both 23, qualify by having been 22 at the start of the year.
The competition kicks off on August 4 and is scheduled to finish on August 20 which means it will clash with the start of the Premier League season.
All time top appearances for Liverpool
The first fixture of Liverpool's season will fall on or around Saturday August 13 meaning Teixeira and Ilori could miss at least two league games as well as a large part of pre-season.
And the pair have already started to miss out on training sessions as they are currently with the Portuguese set-up and not the Liverpool squad who are in Tenerife preparing for a late season surge in both the Premier League and Europa League.
