Louis van Gaal: Manchester United need this many points to finish in the top four
LOUIS VAN GAAL insists Manchester United need 27 points if they are to secure a top-four finish this season.
Louis van Gaal believes Man Utd must win all their remaining games to finish in the top four
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Brom earlier today to leave them sixth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
West Ham’s stunning 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday saw them leapfrog Van Gaal’s side into fifth.
And with nine games to go and a total of 27 points up for grabs, the Dutchman insists his team must win every match if they are to secure Champions League football.
"It’s a big blow, these kinds of matches you have to win. We need 27 points,” Van Gaal said.
"It is a lot, but it is always possible."
"You always have a chance [to make the top four] but these kind of matches you have to win, and certainly when you have to close the gap because you have lost too many matches already."
