Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe urges Benik Afobe not to turn his back on England career
BOURNEMOUTH manager Eddie Howe has urged Benik Afobe not to turn his back on a possible international career with England.
Benik Afobe is considering representing DR Congo at international level
London-born Afobe has said he would consider representing DR Congo, despite playing for England youth teams for the last 11 years.
The 23-year-old striker qualifies for DR Congo through his parents but Howe will be advising the former Wolves man not to rush into any decisions about his international future.
"If I was him, and I will be speaking to him, I would say give England your very best and (have the) opportunity to play for this country.
"I don't know his feelings or thoughts on it, I read it just like you did, but I haven't spoken to him about it.
"I will be (speaking to him) to lend my advice and thoughts."
