Man Utd Transfer News: Sunderland done deal, £12m Liverpool bid, Leicester move ruled out
EXPRESS SPORT brings you all the latest transfer news coming from Old Trafford.
Jordan Pickford has signed a new deal at Sunderland despite Manchester United's interest
Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Sunderland's highly-rated goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he signed a new four-and-a-half year deal at the Stadium of Light.
The Red Devils, as well as Tottenham and Aston Villa, have been keeping tabs on the England Under-21 international, who has made two senior appearances for the Black Cats this term.
A Sunderland statement read: "Jordan Pickford has signed a new deal with the Black Cats that sees him extend his stay at the Stadium of Light until 2020."
Meanwhile, Portuguese publication A Bola claim Liverpool are looking to hijack United's move for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
Louis van Gaal has reportedly set his sights on the 27-year-old - valued at £12million - as he looks to bolster his attacking options before the window closes.
But now Liverpool have entered the race for Slimani, who has 20 goals this term, after sending scouts to watch him score twice against Ferreira on Saturday.

Manchester United have been told to forget about signing Kasper Schmeichel
And finally, Leicester's Mark Schwarzer claims there is no chance of team-mate and fellow goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel leaving the King Power this month.
The Dane has been linked with moves to Premier League rivals United - where his dad Peter played for eight years - and Liverpool.
Schwarzer said: "I can’t see Leicester allowing him to leave, particularly at this time of the season. I just see it as impossible. I just can’t see Leicester letting Kasper go.”
