Under-fire Louis van Gaal set to leave Man United with Jose Mourinho waiting to take over
LOUIS VAN GAAL could leave Manchester United at the end of the season, with Jose Mourinho poised to take over.
Could Louis van Gaal leave the club at the end of the season?
The Dutchman has come under mounting pressure at United after they were dumped out of the Champions League and went eight games without a win.
But the doubts over Van Gaal's position appeared to have eased following their late 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
But according to the Daily Mirror, the 64-year-old's friends and family are becoming increasingly concerned about the pressure he has come under.
And they are understood to feel Van Gaal may decide to leave Old Trafford at the end of the 2015/16 with a year left on his contract.
Van Gaal: United can win title
If Van Gaal was to leave United, axed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho would become the favourite to take charge.
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to one day manage United and his agent Jorge Mendes has close ties with the club.
