La Liga expert reveals inside knowledge on Chelsea and Man City’s chase for Pep Guardiola
CHELSEA will fight Manchester City to make Pep Guardiola their next manager.
Pep Guardiola's next managerial job is unknown
That is according to La Liga expert Guillem Balague.
Express Sport understands Guardiola, who will quit Bayern Munich at the end of the season, remains Roman Abramovich’s top target.
Abramovich it seems is prepared to offer Guardiola a staggering contract worth £17million a year.
City meanwhile have been closely linked with Guardiola, which has only raised further questions over Manuel Pellegrini’s long-term future.
“City are convinced they have done enough to get Pep Guardiola, but they have not signed anything,” Balague told Sky Sports.
"Roman Abramovich is aware of that and is trying to convince Pep by giving him a blank chequebook.
Manuel Pellegrini's long-term future at Manchester City is under threat
"The only thing that is clear is that his next job is in the Premier League. That's the only thing that nobody doubts."
Balague also thinks Chelsea would appeal to Guardiola for location reasons.
“City want him to become their Alex Ferguson, the one who puts the foundation for the future of the club,” Balague added.
Pep Guardiola Manager Profile
“In my opinion, City is an attractive project but Chelsea is in London and there is that attraction.
"His intention is to give an answer in January to his future employees."
