Crystal Palace eye £15m club record deal for Newcastle target (who wants Real Madrid move)
CRYSTAL PALACE are ready to break their record transfer fee to sign in-demand Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.
Michy Batshuayi has scored 19 goals for Marseille
Batshuayi is reportedly wanted by a number of clubs, including Premier League outfit Newcastle.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the 22-year-old.
But Palace believe they can capture Belgium international Batshuayi with a £15million offer, claim The Sun.
Yohan Cabaye is Palace's current club record transfer - the former Newcastle ace arriving from Paris Saint-Germain for £10m this summer.
The team that makes me the dream? Real Madrid
The forward boasts 19 goals in 41 appearances for Marseille since joining the Ligue 1 club from Standard Liege last season.
Were Palace to move for Batshuayi it would be a bitter blow to Newcastle's plans.
Toon manager Steve McClaren is thought to have three men on his radar for the winter, with Batshuayi top of that list.
McClaren: Nobody's happy at Newcastle
The £12m arrival of Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer has not yielded results up front and Newcastle have suffered from a lack of goals.
McClaren is also thought to be chasing Paris Saint-Germain's second-choice goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu and Oxford United starlet Kemar Roofe.
As for Palace, they may struggle to convince Batshuayi to join even if they successfully negotiate a fee with Marseille.
Asked in an interview this week which club he would like to sign for, Batshuayi told beIN Sports: "The team that makes me the dream? Real Madrid. Does PSG make me dream? No, not at all."
