Sheffield Wednesday 0 - Derby County 0: Ince struggles to impress in Hillsborough draw
DERBY maintained their impressive streak in a Hillsborough stalemate - a match that posed another question mark over their enigmatic winger Tom Ince.
Tom Ince struggled to impress for Derby in their 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday
Something of a revelation when on loan at Derby last season, scoring 11 times in 18 league appearances, manager Paul Clement felt this would be a decisive campaign for the 23-year-old in a division which would be wary of his talents and style of play this time around.
Derby paid Hull a then clubrecord £4.75 million for his services last summer and a spell of three goals in as many games two months ago made it appear Ince might be rediscovering his form.
The jury is still out, however, with Clement saying recently that the England Under-21 winger was being frustrated by the closer attention he was being given by opposing teams, a phenomenon all too evident yesterday.
Ince barely saw the ball for the hour he was on the pitch in the goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday before he was replaced by Johnny Russell.
"They defended very well against him," said Clement. "The full-back played well, the wingers were helping, doubling up on him.
