Newport County 4 - Brackley Town 1: FA Cup run comes to grinding halt as Exiles run riot
NEWPORT COUNTY striker Lenell John-Lewis woke Brackley Town from their FA Cup dream after just 38 seconds.
Newport celebrate their fourth which sealed Brackley's fate
A strong breeze had Brackley captain Luke Graham in all-sorts of trouble after Joe Day's long clearance down-field, and John-Lewis pounced to poke the ball home.
It did not take long for the League Two side to assert their dominance, as Yan Klukowski curled a free-kick into the top-left corner after 17 minutes.
Right-back Aidan Hawtin silenced the Rodney Parade crowd when he powered James Akintunde's low cross past Day before half-time.
But Alex Rodman made sure Newport booked their second-round date at Barnet with a low drive into the bottom corner after John-Lewis found him free in the 18-yard box.
And having scored at the right end, Hawtin made sure of his side's FA Cup exit when he diverted Tom Owen-Evans' cross into his own goal.
