Reports suggested PSG's owners, Qatar Sports Investments, had Mourinho at the top of their wanted list.
And Chelsea's poor start to the season had sparked rumours that he could be given the sack by owner Roman Abramovich.
The Sunday Express revealed that PSG were actively seeking to know the future plans of the former Real Madrid boss.
It was understood the Qatari owners saw Mourinho as an option to take the club to the next level in terms of Champions League success.

And his record in the tournament, winning twice with Porto and Inter Milan, is believed to have turned the heads of PSG's wealthy backers.
However, according to reports in French newspaper Le Parisien, Blanc has begun contract talks with the Ligue 1 giants.

And it's claimed the former France international boss is close to putting pen to paper on a contract keeping him at the Parc des Princes long term.
The 49-year-old's current deal with the French champions expires at the end of the season and there had been speculation he would not be handed a new one.
Meanwhile, reports from Italy have suggested Mourinho's future may lay elsewhere in the Premier League, taking over at Manchester United when Van Gaal's contract expires at the end of next season.
