LA Galaxy boss opens up on Steven Gerrard's move to Liverpool
STEVEN GERRARD will be allowed to train with Liverpool during the MLS offseason.
5 Reasons why Gerrard should return to Liverpool
LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena says he has no problem with Gerrard returning to Merseyside to keep fit over the winter months.
But he has ruled out the possibility of Gerrard, 35, playing for Liverpool once again.
Reports emerged this week that the Reds were keen on bringing their former captain back into the squad.
But Arena insists Gerrard won't be playing.
"I don't believe it is at all accurate," he said.
"There's not any truth to any of this. It's ridiculous."
However, when asked if he would consent to Gerrard training with Jurgen Klopp's side, Arena said: "Of course. Why not?"
Steven Gerrard still has a season left on his LA Galaxy contract
Yesterday former Reds midfielder Didi Hamann said the club don't need Gerrard.
He said: “We all know what Steven Gerrard did for the club, but even if he does train at the club, if a central midfielder gets injured, the first question at the press conference on a Friday will be, ‘are you going to give him [Gerrard] a contract?’
"And that’s the last thing Klopp needs, constant speculation about Steven Gerrard. I’m not sure even training with them is a good idea.”
