The Chelsea captain was defending his himself and team-mates after their poor start to the season which has seen them slip to fifteenth in the Premier League.
He tweeted: "Massive statement from Mourinho to sub off his captain/leader at HT, I think it could be beginning of the end for Terry!
"He has been one of the best centre halves the Premier League has seen but on evidence of this season so far looks like his age and lack of pace is beginning to catch up with him.
"It happens to all the greats! He was brilliant last season, played every game.
"I'll be surprised if he plays in more than half the games this season!! I might be completely wrong, time will tell!"
Today, ahead of Chelsea's crucial Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev tomorrow night, Terry responded saying he won't accept criticism from someone who has not had a good career, like Savage.
John Terry made his feelings known during the press conference
"On the first bit, it's a case of, for me, we are where we are as a group," he said.
"I've come under criticism, individually, from certain players and individuals, players I've looked up to and played alongside.
"I've taken that on the chin: Rio, Carra, Neville, the very best I've come up against in the game. I take that on the chin. When others speak, maybe I don't take it on the chin.

"When players have not had a career, played at a really bad level in their career... Robbie Savage being one. He's dug me out a couple of times.
"You take it as a footballer, as an individual. I'll take it from the Rios, Carraghers and Neville.
"All day long. From others? Nah."
