Jurgen Klopp bans WAGs from Liverpool training ground and cuts days off ahead of Spurs tie
JURGEN KLOPP has banned WAGs from Liverpool's training ground and cut back on days off for his squad in an immediate crackdown.
Tottenham v Liverpool - Premier League Preview
The new Liverpool manager has told his players "Melwood is the headquarters of football".
Klopp takes charge of his first game today at Tottenham still reeling from the season-ending injuries to Danny Ings and Joe Gomez.
But he has wasted little time in displaying his steely side by implementing changes behind the scenes in order to underline how Melwood is a place of work and not a place for families. It is not an indictment of what has gone on under previous regimes, merely how Klopp likes to work.
Wives and girlfriends of players were not seen at the training ground of Borussia Dortmund, Klopp's previous club, and that practice has now been introduced at Melwood to banish any potential distractions.

While certain mitigating circumstances would ensure it is not a blanket ban, Liverpool's players have been left under no illusions about the work ethos that is now in place.
Liverpool's looming training schedule has also been reappraised by Klopp and his staff, Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, with much of the time off players had been expecting now cancelled. "We need to train for as often and for as long as it is possible," said Klopp.
At Dortmund, Klopp would oversee double training sessions on certain days each week and while he has yet to introduce that at Liverpool, the emphasis is again clear as he looks for his methods to take hold.
