Portugal forward: Man Utd move was a joke but I'll move again if La Liga form continues
MANCHESTER UNITED reject Bebe thought news of interest from Old Trafford was a joke before he joined the club in 2010.
Bebe amazing freekick against FC Sevilla
The Portugal forward spent four years in Manchester after former manager Sir Alex Ferguson paid £8million to sign him from Vitoria de Guimarares.
Ferguson famously paid the money despite the fact he had never seen him play.
“It was a shock for me,” Bebe told The Daily Mail.
“For the week leading up to it, I thought the whole thing was a joke. I thought they were leading me on.
“Then I realised it was serious. I was surprised. I was playing in the third division in Portugal and all of a sudden one of the world’s biggest clubs wanted me? That’s not very normal.
"I remember my team-mates and family calling and asking me "What’s going on? Is it for real?"
Bebe is currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano
The 25-year-old only played twice in the Premier League for United and was sent out for several loan spells after struggling to settle.
Benfica eventually took a punt by giving him a permanent contract last summer but he is currently back on loan in Spain with Rayo Vallecano.
His star appears to be in the rise again, however, after footage emerged of a spectacular free-kick he scored against Sevilla in La Liga.

And he has not ruled out a return to Old Trafford in the future if he continues to impress.
"I've never thought about that [returning to Man United], but nothing is impossible," he previously told Portuguese newspaper Publico.
"If I score 10 goals in La Liga then for sure, I'll be able to sign for a big club.
"If I score 10 goals here at Rayo Vallecano I'm going to have many big teams chasing me again next year."
