Jagielka: New boys will grasp chance in absence of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd stars
PHIL JAGIELKA insists England will get the job done in Lithuania tonight despite a string of injuries to key players.
Hodgson hopes to keep perfect record [AMBIENT]
England will end a successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record if they win in Vilnius.
Everton centre-half Jagielka will captain his country for the first time in the absence of usual skipper Wayne Rooney of Manchester United and second in command Gary Cahill of Chelsea.
"Normally you say that and not a lot of people expect you to do so, but we've put in some great performances along the way and it's nice that we will have the opportunity to do so.
"We know it is going to be a difficult game with a few of the boys going (home) and a few of us getting a bit of an opportunity, whether you've got caps or you've not got too many caps under your belt, this is the opportunity you want.
"The squad is strong and it's up to us who gets the chance tomorrow to go and prove it and put a good performance on."
England face Lithuania tonight without a number of key players
Jagielka, 33, has helped Everton keep three clean sheets form 10 games this season, and will likely start alongside United defender Phil Jones.
Tottenham's Kyle Walker is likely to start at right-back, with Kieron Gibbs of Arsenal on the other flank.
Were Shelvey to start in place of Milner, he will likely line up alongside Liverpool's Adam Lallana and Jagielka's club team-mate Roos Barkley in a three-man midfield, with Vardy potentially playing up front alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harry Kane.
