Spain international reveals why he failed in £26m Tottenham move
ROBERTO SOLDADO has opened up on his disappointing spell at Tottenham.
Roberto Soldado struggled for goals during his two years at White Hart Lane
The Spain international joined Spurs in 2013 for a club-record fee of £26million from Valencia, but failed to live up to his hefty price-tag.
The 30-year-old striker scored just seven Premier League goals in two seasons and left White Hart Lane to return to Spain with Villarreal in the summer.
And Soldado, who has two La Liga goals this term, believes the sacking of Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas in December 2013 contributed to his failure in England.
He told AS: “I went with enthusiasm and excitement for what was a challenge for me, thinking the Premier League was an ideal [type of] football for me, but it was quite the opposite.

Roberto Soldado says the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas' dented his confidence
"From the dismissal of Villas-Boas, who was the one who had opted for me, everything backfired. I lost confidence and I had a hard time.
"The most important thing for me was to return to enjoying football. After the two years that I had in England my objective was to return to be happy in [my] day-to-day [life]."
