Barcelona director makes stunning claim about Neymar transfer to Manchester United
NEYMAR will remain at Barcelona 'for life', according to the club's technical director Roberto Fernandez.
Neymar - Spotlight on
Reports in Spain have suggested Neymar's representatives are stalling on a new deal, shedding more light on a possible move to Manchester United.
Newspaper Mundo Deportivo report the Brazil star told friends he considered moving to Old Trafford in the summer for a reported £240million fee.
Neymar has confirmed Manchester United's interest
And Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed a move to Old Trafford is one Neymar would 'categorically consider'.
Talks are said to have taken place between the two parties, although the 23-year-old insisted no concrete offer had been made.
"We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete,” he told ESPN Brasil. “I heard that there were offers, but none made it to me.”
And now it appears Barca are fighting tooth and nail to quash the reports linking him with a move away from the Nou Camp, stating he will be there 'for life'.
"We are currently working on Neymar's contract extension and I don't think there will be any type of problem," Fernandez told Spanish newspaper Marca.
"I have no doubt in my mind that Neymar will spend the rest of his life at Barcelona."
