CRISTIANO RONALDO has admitted he does not regret getting Wayne Rooney sent of in the 2006 World Cup.

And it was to be an eventful match, with things hotting up between the pair over Rooney's red card.
The striker appeared to stamp on defender Ricardo Carvalho, leading Ronaldo to pester the referee into sending him off.
Portugal then went on to win the match via penalties and it's become a game England fans have found difficult to stomach.

However, Ronaldo has admitted he does not regret what he did, and insists there was no hard feelings between them in the following season.
"I don't regret what I did because when you play for your country, you defend your colours," Ronaldo said in BBC documentary, Wayne Rooney - The Man Behind The Goals .

"I didn't do anything bad. He understood my point of view, let's speak about the present, let's win trophies, let's play together like we did.
"We were still friends. People create big dramas that never exist."
