Club chief confirms £14.5m bid was made for Spurs, Saints and Juve target Franco Vazquez
PALERMO rejected a £14.5million bid for Tottenham and Southampton summer target Franco Vazquez on deadline day.
Franco Vazquez scored 10 goals for Palermo last season
Vazquez, 26, was reportedly trailed by a number of clubs including the Premier League duo.
Napoli and Juventus were said to be keen on the midfielder, who scored 10 Serie A goals last season.
But Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini revealed that it wasn't a domestic rival that made a late bid for Vazquez on deadline day.
"Vazquez? On the last day of the market I had a request of £14.5m (€20m) for him but not from Naples, but a side with more money," he told Radio Crc.
Tottenham's reported interest in Vazquez arose as Christian Eriksen's future at the club became uncertain, with claims that Manchester United and PSG were ready to plunder White Hart Lane for the Denmark international.
Meanwhile, Saints at one point appeared on the verge of losing both Saido Mane and Victor Wanyama to Manchester United and Spurs respectively and had Vazquez on a list of replacements, claimed talkSPORT.

It is not known who made the deadline day offer for Vazquez but Zamparini remains determined to cling on to his star man.
"Vazquez is like (Roberto) Baggio," Zamparini added. "He's the fantasista, the guy for the killer ball, so I don't understand why (Italy head coach Antonio) Conte doesn't play him.
"But if he wants to make a workman-like national team, it's better than he doesn't call him and leaves him here in Palermo, where he's an important player."
