Chelsea ready to make record £34m offer Everton’s John Stones
CHELSEA will ignore Everton’s insistence John Stones is not for sale and will consider paying a record £34million for the defender in an attempt to weaken their resolve.
John Stones - Spotlight on
Jose Mourinho will not halt his interest in the England international, despite claiming it would be game over if Everton said they would not entertain offers for Stones.
Everton responded in writing to Chelsea’s £20m bid at the start of last week by saying Stones was not available for transfer.
But Mourinho sees the 21-year-old as John Terry’s long-term replacement at Stamford Bridge and would be prepared make him the most expensive English defender, eclipsing the £30m Manchester United paid for Rio Ferdinand in 2002.
Jose Mourinho is determined to sign John Stones
Stones, 21, has been earmarked to play around 30 matches for Chelsea this season despite the presence of Terry and England centre-back Gary Cahill.
Yet Everton maintain all those plans are academic and they will not be changing their stance, pointing to how they fought off United’s overtures for Leighton Baines two summers ago.
