Liverpool defender's pitiful excuse for snubbing Sunderland transfer
TIAGO ILORI will not seek a move to Sunderland this summer because it is "a cold city".
Tiago Ilori's (right) father says Sunderland is too cold a place for his son to play
That is the revelation from father Kola, who says his son has been in talks with Liverpool bosses over his future.
Ilori, 22, has reportedly been offered a new contract at Liverpool despite never making a league appearance for the club.
The defender spent last season on loan at Bordeaux and the year before that with Granada.
And despite interest from Sunderland in his signature, his father insists the centre-half will remain at Anfield and fight for his place.
Best opening day fixture record
He said: "We talked last week about the future of Tiago.
"They [Liverpool] say he will have a chance and go in the preseason tour of Thailand.
"There are other clubs interested, like Sunderland, but Sunderland is a cold city."
According to worldweatheronline.com, the city of Sunderland has an average December temperature of between 2c and 6c.
The city of Liverpool, meanwhile, averages between 2c and a scorching 8c in the same month.
