Brendan Rodgers explains how Jon Flanagan's injury helped Chelsea to title over Liverpool
BRENDAN RODGERS has explained how Chelsea beat Liverpool to the Premier League title this season.
Jon Flanagan hasn't featured for Liverpool all season with a knee injury
Jose Mourinho led the Blues to the championship two weekend's ago with the 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace.
The Stamford Bridge outfit sit 11 points clear of last season's winners Manchester City in second and comfortably 22 points ahead of fifth-place Liverpool.
We’ve lost three starters Suarez, Sturridge and Flanagan
And Rodgers believes the departure of Luis Suarez and the injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Jon Flanagan heavily affected his team, while also praising Mourinho's summer recruitments.
"The difference is pretty clear," the Anfield boss said on the Blues' title win.
"At the end of last season when we nearly won the league, Chelsea signed three players in [Thibaut] Courtois, [Cesc] Fabregas and [Diego] Costa and won it this season.
"We’ve lost three starters in [Luis] Suarez, [Daniel] Sturridge who has been injured and young Jon Flanagan – that’s over 50 goals."
