Sterling yesterday claimed that money was not the reason he has failed to sign a new deal at Anfield.
Instead, the 20-year-old insists that winning trophies is what motivates him.
And after going so close to the Premier League title last season, Heskey has suggested the Reds now need to go one step further if they are going to keep their prize asset.

Heskey also believes that Sterling would be taking a massive risk in leaving Liverpool.
He added: "His progress has been immense, especially under Brendan Rodgers, so I don't see why he should leave.
"You see a lot of young players leave clubs where they are making great progress and they go to another club and that stops."
