Ander Herrera talks football with Wayne Rooney
Footage emerged last week of Rooney appearing to be knocked out by the Black Cats defender after a sparring session in the United man's kitchen.
And while Herrera has praised Rooney's leadership, he says he tries to avoid getting involved in too much banter with the former Everton star.
He told Spanish newspaper El Pais: "Rooney is very outspoken and insults us in Spanish.
"I prefer to talk to him about football because he enjoys boxing and he might try and spar with me."

Explaining the video last week Rooney said: "That's the world we live in today.
"It's in my own home, it's not public, it's what friends do - they mess around in the house.
"It was a couple of mates in a private house, and somehow it's managed to get on the front page of a national newspaper.
"I've just been focussed on the game, it's more interesting for other people rather than for me."
