Arsenal star Lianne Sanderson insists Cyprus Cup win puts England back on track for Canada
LIANNE SANDERSON insists England are back on track after winning the Cyprus Cup and can cause an upset at the summer's World Cup in Canada.
Lianne Sanderson says England are back on track
England went into the tournament off the back of defeats to Germany and the USA following their 100% World Cup qualifying record.
But after victory over Canada in the final - in which she scored the only goal - Sanderson believes Mark Sampson's side are back in the zone and other nations will take notice of them.
She said: "Every single trip we are getting better and better. After coming off the back of two defeats I think we needed to win this competition to show we are still a force to be reckoned with.

Let’s not forget – Canada are a top, top nation and we beat them in a final. So I think that does show that we can win against some big teams when it matters most

"Mark and the staff have been preparing us all trip for this game. Our objective this whole week, from minute one, was to win this tournament and we’ve done that.
"We played every game like it was a cup final and we know we have to do that in the World Cup."
England take on China on April 9 in their next warm-up game before taking on France on June 9.
Meanwhile England midfielder Karen Carney has become the first female footballer to be inducted into Birmingham City’s Hall of Fame after winning her 100th cap against Germany at Wembley in November.
