Arsene Wenger plans long stay for Alexis Sanchez and explains goalscoring prowess
ARSENE WENGER expects a long career for Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez Player Profile
The 26-year-old Sanchez - Arsenal’s leading goalscorer this term with 19 - joined the Gunners from Barcelona for £35m over the summer.
Wenger admits he had a few years in mind when he bought Sanchez and believes his success in front of goal is down to him playing on the left wing.
“We are very happy with him,” Wenger told a Chilean journalist. “I have bad news for you, he will not come back to Chile very quickly.”

On Sanchez’s goalscoring this term, he added: “I just think with his technique, his ability, his confidence and also his position as well.
“When the right-footed play on the left, when he comes in he has a chance to score. When he plays on the right, his right foot is less in a position where he can score. Because he has better angles on the right side.
“And as well, maybe, because we play very attacking football. He gets very good opportunities to score.”
