OLIVIER GIROUD is hoping to finally lift the Champions League trophy thanks to the significant investment at Arsenal over the past few seasons.

The Gunners have splashed almost £200m since Giroud's arrival in 2012, with Arsene Wenger bringing in marquee signings Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla.
And the 28-year-old target man believes the Emirates outfit can now compete with the best in Europe's elite competition, with AS Monaco up next in the last-16.
Giroud said on his Champions League ambitions: "To win it, remains an aim of mine.

"In the last few years, the signings have shown, we are building a team to rival the biggest."
And on facing Monaco in the next round, the France international added: "It will be a competitive match.
"We will need to do what is necessary against at team that won’t be pushovers. If we are favourites, it is only by a very little bit."
